SUMMARY:Mother's Day Store
DESCRIPTION:K-5 students shop during their scheduled library time for a present for their mothers or mother figures.  All items for the store are donated.  This means you have a good reason to start your spring cleaning!  We are accepting new or gently used items that any mother would love.  Remember\, one mother’s donation could be another mother’s treasure!  Any items can be brought into the office during the months of March and April.  In addition to treasure\, we would also love new or gently used gift wrapping supplies – mostly gift bags\, tissue\, and small gift boxes.  All money collected from the Mother’s Day store is donated to Acres of Hope\, a local center serving homeless women with children.

SUMMARY:Go the Distance
DESCRIPTION:Go The Distance is a district-wide 24-hour relay & 5k Aqua Color Run\, taking place on May 12-13\, 2016.\nPresented by Loomis Basin Education Foundation\, Go the Distance (GTD) is possibly the only event that has LUSD parents\, staff\, teachers and students K-12 all participating alongside each other.  We have been very fortunate over the years to have administrators who believe in the message and the event and allowed students and staff a minimum day so we can all come together to participate in GTD.  Helping to put on the event is now part of the Del Oro Spring Leadership curriculum. If you would like more information\, you can go to www.gothedistancerun.com. \nIn addition to the 24-hour relay teams\, there is also an opportunity for people to participate in the Aqua Color 5K run on May 16 at 6:30 p.m. \n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			24-hour Relay (starts May 12 @ 2:30 p.m.)\nThe minimum age to participate on a 24-hour relay team is 15 or enrolled in high school. LUSD Middle School students are the only exception to this rule and they may participate on 20 person middle school teams only. \nThe entry fee for all teams is $1000\, and entry fee proceeds can be donated to our school. \nIf MYP students (or anyone over 15) is interested in being on a relay team or putting their own team together\, they should contact Kristina Aschemeyer\, LBCS rep\, for GTD via email (kriskky@yahoo.com) or phone (415-305-0491). \n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			Aqua Color 5K Run (starts May 12 @ 6:30 p.m.)\nThe 5K Aqua Color Run is designed to be a fun\, safe\, and challenging run for all ages in which anyone can come out to enjoy the run\, food\, music and atmosphere of Go the Distance. Not everybody can participate in the 24 hour relay race but EVERYBODY can enjoy a low key 3-mile walk\, jog run or stroll (that’s right\, this fun run is NOT chipped timed). 100% of the proceeds go back to local schools! \nYour $25 registration fee includes a Go the Distance t-shirt\, music\, and loads of fun!
